Project to support victim children of COVID-19

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus.

"The COVID-19 pandemic has emerged as a child rights crisis. Today in India, children are losing parents and caregivers to the virus, leaving them extremely vulnerable and without parental care,"

Since the start of the pandemic, more than 1,700 children have lost both parents, while 140 have been abandoned and more than 7,400 have lost one of their parents to the virus, according to the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR).

As we are aware that the ongoing second wave of COVID 19 has left devastating effect on the human life causing death to countless people. In several cases parents died of pandemic leaving children orphaned.

Since Child Welfare Council Punjab is committed to the cause of children in distress, it becomes our moral responsibility to extend possible support/help in such cases.

We have received 16 cases from different districts of Punjab who have not been getting any grant to pay their monthly fee. Accordingly, you are requested to contribute towards this cause so that Council can extend financial help to needy children to pursue their studies & vocational training.
